Special edition

Your zakat, worked out with your numbers and your nisab.

List what you hold, take off what is due, set the nisab and rate you follow, and the sum is done in front of you, line by line. This tool does arithmetic. It does not give rulings.

  • One file, nothing to install
  • Works offline
  • Your nisab and your rate
  • Yours for one payment

Why we made it

The maths should not be the hard part.

Most people work their zakat out once a year on a phone calculator, with figures scattered across accounts, and never keep a record of how they got there.

This tool holds the list, does the subtraction and the percentage, and shows every line so you can check it or show it to someone who knows more than you do. What counts, which nisab and what rate are all yours to set.

Inside the tool

Every figure is one you choose

We do not decide what counts as zakatable, which nisab applies to you or what rate you pay. Those are inputs, not assumptions.

01

Your zakat

The whole sum on one screen: what counts, what comes off, the net, your nisab, whether you are above it, your rate and what is due. Printable, so you have a record for the year.

  • Line by line
  • Printable
  • Your own date

02

Nisab and rate

Type the nisab figure you have been given, or work one out from today metal price per gram. The rate defaults to 2.5 percent and you can change it. Nothing is fetched online, the file is offline.

Honestly

Who it is for, and who it is not

Made for you if:

  • You want the sum done properly and kept somewhere
  • You want to set your own nisab and rate rather than accept a website default
  • You want a record you can check or show to someone qualified
  • You would rather your figures stayed on your own device

Give it a miss if:

  • You want the tool to tell you what counts as zakatable, which is a question for a scholar and not for software
  • You want live gold prices, which an offline file cannot fetch
  • You want it to pay or distribute your zakat for you

Your data

It never leaves your device

There is no account, no login and no server. Everything you type is kept by your own browser, on the machine you typed it on. We cannot see it, because it never reaches us.

Save a backup file whenever you like and load it on another device or after a reinstall. That file is plain readable text, so you are never locked in.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does this tell me what my zakat rules are?

No, and it never will. Rulings differ between schools and situations. The tool does the arithmetic on figures you provide, and every figure that could differ is one you set yourself.

Where does the nisab come from?

From you. There is a helper that multiplies a metal price per gram by the commonly quoted weights, but you can type any nisab you have been given and that is the one it uses.

Can I change the 2.5 percent?

Yes. It is an input like everything else, because some situations use a different rate.

Does it fetch gold prices?

No. The file is offline and has no connection of any kind. You look the price up and type it in, which also means it is the price you trust.

Why is this not in the Library bundle?

The Library is the everyday tools that suit anyone anywhere. This one is for people who pay zakat, so it is sold on its own at a lower price rather than bundled with things they may not want.

Do the sum once, and keep the record.
